At one time or the other, you would have been invited to a wedding ceremony especially of close family members. A great deal of planning goes into wedding events and there are many who hire wedding planners to do the thinking and the running around. These planners are organisers and cover the venue, the guest list, the seating arrangements, the food, the drinks, the wedding cake, the musician, the wedding vehicles and much more.
We know that the main attraction is the bride and there are many on the wedding day that look out for the totality of her beauty- her beautiful dress, her ornaments, her facial beauty and her poise.
The bridegroom is even more excited than the guests. He waits patiently for his bride to walk down the aisle with her father and when she reaches the front he expects to see her at his side, ever so radiant, ever so beautiful, without spot or wrinkle.
But supposing he turns to his side and shock and horror set in. He sees his bride in a dress that is no longer white because she had tripped and fallen into the flower beds by the church. It looks as though she rolled in the mud, her hair is dishevelled and there is a stench. The bride is screaming and the guests are beginning to shake their heads in astonishment and disbelief.
A lot of thoughts would be passing through the groom’s mind at this time. The bridegroom may even have second thoughts about marrying his screaming bride.
The bride of Jesus Christ is the congregation of born again believers. Ephesians 5 v 25 says “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it.”Our Lord Jesus Christ is holy, spotless and without blemish, therefore His bride should be the same.
Ephesians 5 v 27 says “that He might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
The wedding between Christ and His bride will take place in heaven and wedding planning is ongoing, we know that nothing unholy shall be allowed in heaven. You and I are part of the bride of Christ; therefore we should be spotless in our words, our thoughts and our deeds. Matthew 5 v 48 says “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Remember Jesus is coming back soon. Matthew 25 v 31 says “When the son of man shall come in His glory and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of His glory.
The rapture is when all true and faithful Christians dead or alive are caught up to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in the air. Our Lord is coming for a bride without spot or wrinkle; he is coming for a bride that is getting herself ready. The Lord’s coming will be as a thief in the night. Are you ready?
Revelations 21 v 9b says “Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”
