To deliver yourself, at times you need to hear from God expressly. I heard at a deliverance ministry over twenty years ago now, of a couple who wanted to marry but there was a problem. The groom to be had elder brothers and all of them had no children. The young man went to the LORD in prayer because he did not want to end up childless. He asked the LORD what he was to do and queried why his brothers did not have children.
He received, according to the minister that he should abstain from the marital act for seven days. Well, he gave all glory to God and intimated his fiancée of the need to abstain and she agreed.
However, when they eventually married, the wife became irritable and grew angry, threatening to tear up the marriage certificate and to leave the marriage. The young man refused to budge since he had covenanted that he would abstain for seven days. The wife eventually packed her things and moved out of their home.
However, on the seventh day, the young man received a call from his mother that she needed to see him urgently. When he saw her, she confessed that she was a witch and that she belonged to a coven of witches and all had covenanted that their children would not have children.
The other witches had mandated her to collect the semen on the bedsheet as that was the normal practice. Failure to do so, would result in her death. The marriage was eventually blessed with children because the young man was able to hear from the LORD.
There is another case that I learnt of. A young man received that he would marry a lady with a hunchback as a wife. He later met this lady in a taxi and they later got married. Very few people attended their wedding . On the night they got married, the wife handed the husband an ointment for him to rub on her back, like her mum had always done.
To their greatest surprise, the hunchback disappeared as the man rubbed his wife’s back with the ointment. The LORD glorified himself. Again, this is another instance of hearing from the LORD and obtaining victory.
In the meantime, as a single, what do I do?
You should have a sense of fulfillment. You may be asking me how and I will tell you how.
Firstly, you must have a personal knowledge of God, one that is solid and unshakeable. Job said “I know him in whom I have believed”. According to Daniel 11 v 32, the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits.
Knowing him is different to knowing of him because knowing him speaks of having a relationship with him. Jesus said “My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me. The voice of a stranger they will not hear”. In short, the voice of the world, they will not hear. They will not hear the voices of the world which dictate, this is the way others are doing it.
Do not bend to peer pressure. Do not expose parts of your body that should be hidden from public view. Do not consent to one night stands or premarital sex. Do not deceive yourself by thinking that nobody will find out. Do not have itching ears.
2 Timothy 4 v 2 -5, says “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry”.
Some people have itching ears; they want the minister of God to say only those things they like to hear. They do not want to hear hard truths that will improve their life for the better.
To some, Christianity is a fad. It is the latest fashion. It is now fashionable to be BORN AGAIN. Some singles attend church only in search of fine ladies, those who fall as a prey, are not deeply rooted in the faith. I recall a minister of God, who mentioned that he got his wife through deception.
He pretended to be a born again Christian who prayed in tongues. The lady fell for him but she suffered greatly in that marriage. The minister of God mentioned that he and his girlfriend would wave to his wife whenever they bypassed her on the road.
Fortunately a young girl preached the saving power of Jesus to him and he gave his life to Christ. The mercy of God prevailed for him. He later became a strong minister of God.
