Living In Plenty

I welcome you to the new year. May you experience a greater level of blessing this year 2015 in Jesus Name.
Our theme for January as was the theme of our watch night service is “Living in Plenty”. I believe this theme is to propel God’s children to a greater level of prosperity.

“Living in Plenty” is not the same as “living with plenty”.

It is possible to live next to abundance, it’s possible to see abundance and yet not be a partaker of it. This is what is meant by ‘living with plenty’.  This we see in 2 Kings 7, where Elisha prophesied abundance, yet the lord on whose hand the king leaned did not live to partake of this abundance because of his unbelief and his boldness in making unfounded utterances concerning God’s ability.

Living in plenty however, refers to being in the midst of abundance and being a partaker of it. “Plenty” means abundance; it implies a provision that’s more than enough. It refers to sufficiency; it rules out lack and is an invite to overflow.

“Living” means to find yourself continuously or on a daily basis doing something. Living in plenty therefore is find oneself on a daily basis in abundance. Psalm 34v10 tells us that “the young lions do lack and suffer hunger; but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing”.

If you are truly seeking God, this scripture will speak for you. Lions are the kings of the animal kingdom; they have the strength to hunt down their prey  and that is how they survive in the wild. We, on the other hand have the LORD daily bringing our provision to us.

Psalm 68v19 says “Blessed be the LORD who daily loadeth us with benefits even the God of our salvation”.

He doesn’t just give us , He loads us. Oh, what a great God we serve. In other words, it is God’s business to look after us.

Therefore, what then is God’s business?

1. He Provides: He has a name – Jehovah Jireh. Meaning He is the LORD our provider. Have you noticed that in 1 kings 17v6 the LORD used the stingiest of birds, ravens, to bring food to Elijah. Elijah did not go searching for food , it was brought to him. Herein lies the secret of divine provision – rest in Him. Philippians 4v19 says “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.

2. He Increases: Our God is known as the God of increases. According to 1 Corinthians 3v6, Paul planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase, you see. God is in the business of multiplying, He multiplies the seed sown according to 2 Corinthians 9v10. Are you sowing good seed? Are you sowing seed and getting tired?

Tired that no one is taking notice; tired that you are not appreciated; tired that you have not seen the harvest? I have good news for you. Check Galatians 6v9 and 2 Thessalonians 3v13; both verses say “don’t be weary in well doing”. We are told in Galatians that we should not faint. Remember that men award but God rewards. The LORD IS SEEING EVERY THING!!! Therefore, rest in Him.

3. He blesses independently of your country’s economy: Isaac sowed in famine and he reaped 100fold according to Genesis 26v1-6.. Don’t observe the economic situation before you sow, sow because it is a principle of God.

4. He Changes Your Status: He changed the status of a poor widow in 2 kings 4 to that of an oil baroness. He changed the status of Joseph from the despised, a servant, a prisoner to that of a prime minister. He changed the status of David from that of a forgotten shepherd boy to that of a king respected of many.

He changed the status of Hannah from that of the barren to that of the fruitful and not only that she gave birth to a prophet Samuel whose words did not fall to the ground. In other words, the first of Hannah’s children was greater than all of her adversary, Penninah’s children. May the LORD change your status this year 2015 for good in Jesus name.

5. He Gives In Excess: Check out Ephesians 3v20 – It says “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us”. God does more than we are believing Him for. Therefore, be expectant. According to Proverbs 23v18 and Proverbs 24v13-14, our expectations shall not be cut off.

When the LORD fed the 5000 men besides women and children, 5 loaves and 2 fishes were used; there were 12 baskets left over – (Matthew 14v19). When the LORD fed the 4000 men besides women and children, 7 loaves and fishes, 7 baskets were left over in Matthew 15v36. What does this tell us? It tells us that He is the all sufficient God.

Hence, His name Jehovah El Shaddai. Believe God, this year 2015 that you and your family will live in plenty. God bless you. As God provides for you, use the provision wisely. We tend not to see excess provision because we misuse it Anything you do not value, you will abuse. It is well with you this year in Jesus name.
