Philipians 2 v 1 tells us that we need to be in fellowship with one another more than ever before. Psalm 133 v 1 says “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.”
Fellowship means “fellows of the same ship.” We are all expected to be on the same ship that is heaven bound. Imagine a ship out at sea; the passengers on the ship cannot jump overboard because they are in disagreement with each other. They would all be expected to tolerate each other until they reach their destination. Likewise, we Christian brothers and sisters are expected to follow peace with all men.
Fellowship is unity and unity is harmony. Just like all our human parts work together in harmony, we likewise, as the body of Christ should dwell together in harmony. There is strength in fellowship, therefore take heed to Hebrews 10 v 25 which says “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another: and so much the more as ye see the day approaching.”
In other words we are built up when we come together, we find counsel and support. Don’t isolate yourself because it leads to loneliness which can bring forth suicidal tendencies. I have counseled those with such tendencies and a major factor has been that they are lonely. I once read somewhere that loneliness is a killer and is a bigger killer than obesity, alcohol and smoking.
It is actually a silent killer and that is why you need JESUS and you need to enjoy the benefits of fellowship. Stay in touch with the brethren and keep reading the articles on this blog. Also remember that the LORD will never leave you or forsake you.
